Abstract:
In any analysis of
the content of a Hausa contemporary Prose as one of the Hausa genres, Jigo
(Theme), Structure/Setting (Tsari), Salo (Style), and Taurari
(Stars/characters/charactersisation), have been the basis for study, with less
emphasis or attention on orthography (Ka`idojin Rubutu), which is the accepted
way of spelling and writing words. This is the gap or vacuum this paper will
dwell into in a book called Sidi Ya Shiga Makaranta, by Umaru Ladan and Michael
Crowder, which is a Hausa translation of Sani Goes To School novel. This paper
cited many examples of orthographical errors and many adaptations from English
to Hausa. The paper concludes by suggesting that academics should be given a
draft copy of such a book, before going to press, as it will affect the
students using it as their syllabus. As the book was among the list of
literature set of books for Basic Education Certificate Examination 2017-2019
